Hi,I installed Windows 10 on my desktop on Wednesday and have come back to use it today to find that it has developed a problem with my mouse. In any Windows window, when I move the mouse pointer to that window it automatically scrolls down without my touching the mouse wheel. This only happens in the actual Windows windows such as settings, the start menu and the live tiles. It does not happen with Edge or any non Windows software as the scroll wheel works correctly. It generally works fine with Chrome and does not keep scrolling down web pages but it does have an issue with drop down menus.I do not think it is a problem with the mouse itself as the mouse works fine with my laptop and initially worked fine with Windows 10. I have also tried using an alternative mouse but that has the same problem. It is not an issue with scrolling inactive windows.I have tried unplugging/replugging in, restarting, reinstalling the generic mouse drivers.Any ideas anyone or should I just go back to trusty old Windows 7?ThanksSimon. I had/have the exact same problem.- Problem only persists in window's programs (e.g. Start menu, window's explorer, setting, etc.)Somewhere along the line of what I was doing something worked.1st Method) Clean out the mount. I lifted up the buttons and push air through it and softly brushed excess out2nd Method) Restart Computer3rd Method) in device settings I right clicked on my mouse and clicked 'Troubleshoot' in the drop-down menu4th Method) I unplugged my Bluetooth mouse receiver and waited a bit.
After about a minute, I plugged it back in.It works now. I wish I had an absolute answer, but I sadly don't.

Mouse Keeps Scrolling Down Windows 10
It seems to be a window's bug or outdated mouse software. But then again I am more apt to blame windows than the mouse because it only has the problem with Window's Programs. Hi,You could face this issue due to corrupt our outdated Mouse Driver.
My Laptop Scrolls Down By Itself
This answer only shows you how to disable the fast scroll, most of us are coders here, who would want the fast scroll disabled? Im thinking of instead of cleaning it, getting it dirty, so it wont scroll every time I move it, because it doesnt do it when i hold my finger on the wheel and shake it, but it does do it when i just shake it. I suspect the wheel is out of balance, and the scroll is too smooth. Maybe it will not move to gravity after it gets a bit worked in. Maybe some thicker grease to slow it down.–Oct 2 '17 at 19:07. For me pushing on the scroll wheel only enables a drag controlled page scrolling, there is a button on top to enable the gear scroll.
Im not sure how one had to come to stack to realize what that button was for. This post is more about an out of balance wheel for me atleast, when its in free scroll, no matter what, if you move the mouse fast (g-force) the out of balance wheel moves, no matter what. My solution has been to just keep my finger on the wheel after stopping the scroll, its the only way without returning it, which is a pain.–Apr 23 '18 at 17:57. Here's what helped me. I have put a tiny bit of oil to the rotating part of the scroll button, where it has friction with the case holding it.
I don't know how that oil is called in English, but it's a very 'generic' one for that kind of use, I use it when computer cooling fans get rusty too. And other thing, check the opening at the bottom of the mouse, where IR sensor is. My mouse lets a lot of air ( and thus dust too ) go inside from there. Try seal that opening from the inside of the mouse, without covering the sensor in any way. And of course, be careful with handling.–Dec 5 '13 at 0:21. I had the exact same problem on my Win 7 x64 after installing Logitech SetPoint.
The problem only occured in my web browser though. Thought I'd mention it anyway since no other has, and the requestor didn't mention if problem occurs everywhere or in browser only.I never noticed during the SetPoint installation, but it actually installs an addon (atleast for Firefox), and that damn addon apparantly creates scroll issues. So my solution was to simply disable Logitech SetPoint addon in your browser and it worked perfectly again.
Given how many people are mentioning the same problem, it is probably not some isolated minor faulty units, but a common problem that Logitech ignores, like that Apple is saying bent iPad is 'normal'. A lot of people here and there are suggesting to toggle the scrolling mode to ratcheted, but that is not a solution. It is a mere workaround, and keep toggling it is not convenient at all.
Your solution of keep returning until you get the good one, will not work in my country. Here, you cannot return a unit that is opened, without a proof that the device is faulty.–Jan 25 at 17:49.
